In May of 1917 the news indicates that my Grandfather, A.A. Langford was constructing a building in Biggar. Would anyone know whether this building still stands and where it is/was located. Do you find this valuable?

According to the 1926 Town of Biggar Tax Assessment A. A. Langford owned Lot 4, in Block 5 which is on the west side of Main Street, two doors down from the old CIBC Bank Building. I've seen a picture with the store having the Rexall sign.

I am not certain the building where he had the drug store still stands or not. It MAY still be there.

If you would like to write something about A.A. Langford's Pharmacy for the Biggar Encyclopaedia it could be included. Also, seeing he was a town druggist, you could write at biography for him and that too could be included in the encyclopaedia.

Thank you for the valuable information about the location of the pharmacy. I am planning to be in Biggar within the next week and hope to locate the site of the store. You mentioned you had seen a picture with the store having the Rexall sign. Is the photo available in a public archive? I would also be interested in locating the Langford's residence in Biggar. This was a large white building which was a rooming house in the 40's. Would you have any idea where this home was located in Biggar? I thank you in advance for any information you may have.

There is a photo at the Biggar Museum & Gallery showing the drug store.

I'll see what I can find out about the house.

I looked at the first 21 pages of the 1926 Tax Assessment and found A.A. Langford owning Lot 19, Block 22 which is on the corner of 4th Ave. East and King Street. It is the 2 story house on north side of 4th Ave, on the west side of King Street. Do you have a photograph of the house? Without searching the entire 1926 Assessment I assume this is the house where Langford's lived.

Thanks so much for your quick response and the most excellent information! We also found pictures of the store in the Glenbow museum Biggar archive which we viewed online last evening. We are looking forward to a visit to Biggar next week to investigate further. Are you residing in Biggar at this time?
