George Powell, was born 1844 in Carleton County and died in 1923 in the Ottawa district. Following his enlistment to fight in the Fenian Raid, he continued to farm in the Carleton district before joining family to homestead in the Biggar, Saskatchewan area for a decade. He had been involved with the L.O.L. and L.O.D.A. lodges.the Biggar Cadet Corps attended the funeral and their buglers played the Last Post. Mrs. W.W. Millar and Harold Powell are relatives residing in the Biggar area.
