Froese, GusThis is a featured page

Gus Froese (December 8, 1929 - ) was born in Hawarden Saskatchewan and painted two of the murals of Biggar located on the exterior walls of the Biggar Museum and Gallery at 105 Third Avenue West. Froese was raised in Hanley, Saskatchewan and attended the Saskatoon Teacher's College. It was during this time that an art instructor, Wynona Mulcaster at the College recognised his abilities and encouraged him to pursue art.

“She was such a vivacious, exciting teacher that art became thrilling for me” | Gus Froese speaking of Wynona Mulcaster.

Froese taught art history and art appreciation at a variety of schools throughout Saskathewan for 23 years before retiring and devoting time to painting and art instruction. With a farm background, and a passion for Saskatchewan, murals across the province preserve memories of historic times. He has been invited as artist in residence to the Emma Lake Kenderdine Campus. His murals can be seen across the prairie provinces and in Moose Jaw and Boissevain, Saskatchewan as well as Biggar.
